日本語

Seven Spirit is a Japan/Philippines-based Not-for Profit Organization aiming to bring up the LIFE-SKILLs of underprivileged children through music and sports education program.
We have newly launched the support project “P[L/R]AY FOR PHILIPPINES” for “Medellian”, a town in North Cebu which is one of the heavily affected areas by Typhoon No.30.

Typhoon damage

As already reported by the media, Typhoon No.30 (HAIYAN/YOLANDA) directly hit Mid Philippines on the 8th of November 2013. Initially, the forecast had predicted the typhoon would hit quite near Cebu city, but actually it deviated to north and hit Leyte Island. High tide water induced by windstorm hit the islands like Tsunami and the media says the death toll is 1833, 2623 injured at the point of 13/11/2013. At the moment, food, safe water and places to shelter people from the rain are desperately needed in the affected areas.

Damages in Leyte and Samar are mainly reported by the media worldwide, however, North Cebu towns like Bantayan, Malapascua, Medelian and Bogo are also heavily devastated.
In one of those areas, Medelian, where 10,000 families, 50,000 people live in, 98% of the houses collapsed, and food and drinking water are scarce. There is no Electricity and Water supply and it is estimated that the lifeline-supply would be back in operation within the span of at least three months.

Medellin and Seven Spirit

Since established, our activities as NPO Seven Spirit have always been based in Cebu, supported by you all. Also, this area (North Cebu) can expect to find little support from public because of minor media exposure. These are the reasons why we would especially like to support Medelian.

In addition Medelian was one of the places where we had the first provincial concert tour as UUU(Music “U”notes the “W”orld) orchestra project in Feb 2012. No less than 3,000 kids came to our concert and they enjoyed our live performance of classical music. We cannot forget their starry eyes and warm welcome from the whole town.

The mechanism of our support

All the donations to our project “P[L/R]AY FOR PHILIPPINES” are exchanged to relief supplies by our local office staff in Cebu, and directly delivered to disaster victims in Medellian every Monday. We work in cooperation with the municipal government of Medellian, and we deliver the supplies to the village where is in the biggest need.

Charity Concert 「P[L/R]AY FOR PHILIPPINES」

We will organize「P[L/R]AY FOR PHILIPPINES」a series of charity concerts throughout Japan and abroad, in which all the profits go to the donations for disaster victims.

One of the big concerns of disaster support is “passing of time”. As timepasses, people get out of motivation to donate, and it becomes difficult toappeal continuous supports. To solve this problem, we plan charity concerts continuously and appeal to people more widely.

If you’re willing to organize an charity event, please let us know by emailing to pfp@seven-spirit.or.jp

Bring the relief supplies

Please bring the relief supplies directly to our local office in Cebu. Our local staff delivers them to the disaster victims every Monday.
